Rollover Motor Vehicle Collision
When a violent crash leaves multiple passengers ejected from a vehicle, determining exactly how and why the collision occurred becomes critical. In this case, attorney Todd Schafer of Schafer & Schafer LLP represented passengers who suffered serious injuries in a devastating rollover collision involving a Jeep Wrangler and a Scion.
According to evidence presented in the case, the Jeep Wrangler was in the process of making a lawful left turn when disaster struck. As the Jeep crossed the intersection, a Scion traveling at a high rate of speed collided with the passenger side of the vehicle. The force of the impact was catastrophic. The Jeep rolled over twice before coming to rest on its left side.
The consequences were severe. Four of the Jeep’s five occupants were ejected during the rollover sequence. The violence of the crash raised important questions about speed, causation, and whether the collision could have been prevented altogether.
Using Event Data Recorder (EDR) information and expert analysis, Focus Graphics recreated the movements of both vehicles leading up to the collision and demonstrated the rollover sequence that followed. Perhaps most compelling was a second animation that illustrated an alternative scenario: what would have occurred if the Scion had been traveling at the posted speed limit. Expert calculations showed that under those conditions, the collision would have been avoided entirely. By visually comparing the actual events with the speed-limit scenario, jurors and decision-makers could clearly understand the critical role excessive speed played in causing the crash.
The animations transformed complex crash reconstruction data into an understandable visual narrative, allowing the facts to speak for themselves and helping establish how the collision unfolded.
Ultimately, the case concluded with an 8 million dollar verdict in favor of the plaintiffs, providing accountability for the injuries suffered by the Jeep’s occupants.

“The overhead crash animations created by Focus Graphics were instrumental in helping us explain this collision. Their team took complicated EDR data and expert calculations and turned them into visuals that were easy to understand and impossible to ignore. The comparison showing how the crash would have been avoided at the speed limit was especially powerful. Focus Graphics helped us tell our clients’ story with clarity, accuracy, and impact.”
